Loaded Question Expectations 7C LA 2010-2011

What is a Loaded Question? Literary Analysis: writing about your reading One BIG question you will answer about something you have read Use a PCR book or whole-class text Multi-paragraph typed response Complete 2 per marking period Different choices for each LQ

Loaded Questions will be assessed… By 3 Focus Correction Areas (FCAs) 2 out of the 3 FCA’s will concern the focus, content, organization, or style of your response 1 FCA will always be about a convention LQ = Type 3 (two drafts) Approximately 50 points

LQ helpful hints… Answering a LQ is very similar to a “ five-musts” response but nothing like giving a summary. Keep the book at your side as you answer the question, so you can easily refer to quotes and page numbers in your response.

LQ Writing Checklist:  Restate the question in the first sentence of your response.  Make three points in your response.  Support the three points with specific details and relevant direct quotes.  Conclude with a final sentence that wraps up your thoughts about the question.  Author and title should be stated multiple times throughout the response.  Focus on answering the question; do not write a summary.  Character names should be used. * Five-must criteria

Two ways to access an LQ: 1.Visit the paper trays on the window shelves. Attach your typed paragraphs to the prompt. 2.Upload the Loaded Questions prompts from my teacher website and type your responses there. Print out a copy or email me your completed paper.

Final notes about LQs… Loaded Questions may only be written about a book that you have finished reading. Loaded Questions may only be written about Just Right or Challenge reads. Late LQs result in the immediate lowering of your Qualities of a Learner grade.
