2. Simple Sentences A simple sentence or independent clause is a subject and predicate that states a complete thought. I love pumpkins.

3. Compound sentences however are made up of two independent clauses joined together with a conjunction and one of these words, for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so. The way to remember this is that the first letters of each word spell FANBOYS. You need to be careful when you use these because changing one word could give your sentence a very different meaning than what you intended to say. I went to the fall fest, but had to leave early.

4. Complex Sentences Now a complex sentence is when one or more dependent clauses join with one independent clause. This sentence will always have a subordinator like because sense after although or that, who, which used as a relative pronoun. I went to the Halloween party because I had finished my homework and my chores.
