1 LESSON PLANNING The success of studens acquiring and improving their second language skills will highly depend on how well the lesson plan has been designed. That´s why you, as teacher to be, must start getting involved with the elements of a lesson plan and what each of them consists of

2 1. GENERAL INFORMATION 1. Universidad Católica b. Faculty of De El Salvador humanities c. Basic English d. simple present tense. e. Daily Activities f. Teacher´s name g. Monday-Thursday (3.50:5:30)

3 GENERAL OBJECTIVE ( what the teacher expects to attain at the endo of the class) SWBAT tell accurately their daily activities 2.1 SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES SWBAT describe their daily activities with a 90% of fluency SWBAT write activities they do during the day with an 80% of accuracy.

4 3. MATERIALS Good planning includes knowing what you need to take with you or to arrange to have in your classroom. Mention all the resources you may need in order to deliver instructions better.

6 4. TIME Set up how long your lesson will last. That could be 2, 3, four, or 10 hours. 5. WARM-UP (5 or 10 minutes) It is usually a review of the previous lesson or a preview of the lesson to be developed. It may be a fun game to catch students´ attention.

7 6. PRESENTATION Introduction of a topic to be developed in class. A dialogue A reading A discussion

8 7. GRAMMAR NOTES The core grammar structure of the lesson is defined and examples are provided so that the students grasp concepts and usage.

9 8. PRACTICE Habituation phase Forming habits with the teacher guidance 3 categories  controlled practice  Semi controlled practice  Free practice

10 Controlled practice drills( but don´t overuse them), recognition exercises, cloze exercises, mimic games, and scrambled sentences. Semi -controlled practice students are given the opportunity to decide the outcome on an activity. The teacher still limits answer. In addition, activities from the textbook and material you have searcherd. Debates, role plays, and problem solving activities

11 Free practice The students use their own judgement and application of the structures studied in class. The students are prompted with a certain topic and then they work it out in groups. The teacher only acts as a monitor.

12 9. WRAP UP It is the phase in which you close your lesson. You help students to organize the information into a meaningful context in their minds. Students can reflect upon what they learnt during the class.

13 10. HOMEWORK It is necessary that you make sure they understood well the structure and its usage.

14 REMINDER DON´T FORGET TO APPEAL TO ALL LEARNING MODALITIES SO THAT MEANINGFUL LEARNING TAKES PLACE IN YOUR LESSONS.
