2 Carl as a “Jung”ster Born in Switzerland to Paul Jung (a pastor) and Emilie Preiswerk. Carl was the 4 th and only surviving child. Emilie was depressed and absent from the household. Carl grew a solitary life and was happiest when “left alone with his own thoughts”.

3 Early life… At 12, Jung began to have fainting spells and his parents feared he may have epilepsy. He developed a fascination with spirituality at a young age being raised in church. Studied at University of Basel. In early 20’s began to research the unconscious mind/ moved to Paris to study under Pierre Janet. Jung married Emma Rauschenbach in 1903 and were married 52 years until her death in 1955.

4 The Unconscious Mind  Ego – our conscious mind; what we are aware of.  Personal Unconscious – Made up of past experiences  Collective Unconscious – Psychological heritage Individuation – The process of personal development that involves establishing a connection between the ego and the self (total psych).

5 INTROVERT VS. EXTROVERT Introvert – More comfortable with the inner world of their thoughts and feelings. Extrovert – More social and aware of what is going on around them.

8 Subconscious Personality Test Name a color (any color). Now think of 3 words that describe that color. Name an animal (any animal). Now think of 3 words that describe that animal. Name a body of water. 3 words describing it. Imagine you’re in a room. All the walls are white and there are no windows or doors. In 3 words describe how that room feels to you…
