2.  Naturalistic approach to the study of the universe.  Patterns that help explain nature  Use the scientific method to study nature.

3.  In the late medieval times a philosophical interpretation was replaced by a more scientific approach. The works of world-wide known Francis Bacon made this approach more popular; and the scientific revolution began. By the late 19 th century science became a teaching in professional institutions.

4.  The natural sciences include: ◦ Biology  This field examines everything related to living organisms. ◦ Chemistry  Chemistry studies matter. It deals with atoms and molecules. ◦ Physics  Physics studies the universe as a whole; the forces and interaction they exert on one another, and their results. ◦ Astronomy  Studies the occurrences outside of the Earth’s atmosphere, as well as the study of the formation and development of the universe. ◦ between others.

5.  The Natural sciences are very important because they describe and explain the natural world to us. ◦ Example: Prevention of natural disasters and what to do in case one happens.

6.  Pure Sciences ◦ These sciences try to explain WHY nature is the way it is.  For example: Biology, Chemistry  Applied Sciences ◦ These sciences try to explain HOW nature is the way it is.  For example: Engineering  Pseudo Sciences aka Fake Sciences  For example: Acupuncture, Astrology

7.  Just like any other area of knowledge the Natural Sciences were created by humans and therefore its not perfect. ◦ Natural Sciences are based many times based on generalizations supported though various evidence, however these predictions are not always accurate. (Ex. natural disasters cannot always be predicted)  Tools used to gather new information are not perfect and leave a great space for error. ◦ Observations, measurements, etc.
