Twenty Questions Subject: Science

Twenty Questions 12345 678910 1112131415 1617181920

1. Where is science knowledge obtained? Knowledge obtained from observing natural events and conditions

2. What are 5 steps to scientific method? Question Hypothesis Experiment Data Conclusion

3. What is bioengineering? The application of engineering to living things

4. How is assistive engineering different from adaptive engineering? Assistive does not permanently change the living organism and adaptive does.

5. How is a theory different from a law? Theories come from many hypotheses and observations, and are not yet proven. But laws actually are derived from many experiments and actually tell how things work.

6. How are observations important? Observations create questions, and without questions there would be no engineering or experimentation done.

7. Why do you need data from an experiment? The data helps the scientist determine if his hypothesis is correct and whether there is a need to continue developing their process.

8. Why build a model? To help determine if the real thing will work through testing. Safety issue

9. What is a theory? Conclusion based on many experiments and observations. A statement about how things may work.

10. What is technology? Anything developed to serve our needs.

11. How is a prototype like a model? The are both based on the real thing but the model is usually a small version and the prototype is actual size.

12. Cost benefit analysis. Why? To see if it is worth while to continue developing a type of technology.

13. Engineering is? The process of creating technology.

14. What is an example of adaptive bioengineering? Heart valve replacement Lasik eye surgery Making oranges with thicker skin for shipping Engineered crops for productivity

15. What is an example of Assistive bioengineering? Wheelchair Hearing Aid Speech synthesizer Braile Glasses

16. What are the steps to the engineering process? Identify a need Develop solutions Build a prototype Test and evaluate Improve the design based on evaluations

17. How has technology changed your life? Comunication Music Education Knowledge of the world

18. How has bioengineering changed your life? Glasses Heart procedures

19. What is one type of model? Conceptual Mathematical Physical

20. Is it ok to use a step in the engineering process more than once? Yes
