4 Prose Analysis Template This template is the most basic response. I would encourage you to use your own wording and phrasing. 12 What is the falling action? 4) The Falling Action – when the dramatic tension eases (lessens) because the protagonist undergoes a series of steps (a plan) for resolving the conflict.

14 “Conflict” – what is the major conflict in “When Mr. Pirzada...” A: The major conflict is Mr. Pirzada’s constant worry for his family in India; it is also Lilia’s realizations over his role as a father-figure.

15 “Exposition” – how does Lahiri set up the story? A: The story begins with an overview of the situation in India during the civil war in Pakistan. Soon after, the narrator introduces the character of Mr. Pirzada and his situation.

16 Your Turn 1) TAKE THE NEXT 10-15 MINUTES and begin filling in the other parts of the plot diagram on your WS. 2) You have the option of doing this for your story or Lahiri’s.
