1 Odyssey Books 16, 17, and 21 Quiz ■This is a group quiz, but everyone needs their own sheet of paper. You may use your book. 1.(3 parts). Looking back at Book 16, describe the relationship between Telemachus and the swineherd, Eumaeus. Use textual evidence to support this relationship. Why would Odysseus and Penelope choose a swineherd as a father figure to their son? What does this say about them? 2.(2 parts). Why does Homer choose to focus on Argos, the dog of Odysseus, in Book 17? What might Argos symbolize in this context? Use textual evidence to support your answer. 3.In Book 21, find an example of an epic simile. Lead into this quote (do NOT quote dump!) and describe the two things that are being compared. How does this manner of figurative language impact both the reader, and compliment what is happening in the text at the time?
