1 Lab Report Requirements and Format -A lab report is a way to report your findings in an experiment -Your lab report must be very specific so it is reproducible (can be repeated) by another person exactly -This is not a process for solving problems it is for reporting findings, the scientific method is the process this is to report your results.

2 Rules for Writing a Lab Report 1- WRITE each section heading 2- INDENT on the second line and any other line used in that section, makes it easy to find sections 3- UNDERLINE the if, then, and because in your hypothesis 4- LIST (vertical) materials and NUMBER and LIST procedures 5- Be very SPECIFIC and DETAILED in all parts, especially in the procedure section so it is reproducible

3 LAB REPORT REQUIREMENTS and FORMAT Title- What your lab is about? Background- Any prior information about concept, may want to address any misconceptions (5 sentences) Purpose- What questions are you trying to answer? Why are we performing this lab? Hypothesis- If applicable: what do you anticipate happening and why? 4 Lab reports cont. Conclusion- Make sense of your data, this means that, why do you think this happened, does your conclusion support your hypothesis?
