5 1 st Club Planning Meeting 1.An explanation of how the plan works is given to the club members. 2.Club chooses a time period for the recruitment program not to exceed 60 days. 3. Members are given prospect list to help identify prospective members. 4. Each members fills in the names. The member may or may not end up being the sponsor. 5. Committee will collect list to create a master list to eliminate duplicates. 6. No one should be approached at this point.

6 LLists are distributed CClub / Board will review the list MMembership can accept or reject names CClub Members will be assigned or volunteer to be prospective sponsors. NNo single member should be sponsoring everyone. OOnce again no contact is to be made at this point. DDiscuss the type of membership growth meeting you wish to have.

7  A Special Membership Meeting  Membership Social  Friendship Day  Club should also set a date and time and a place  Develop an agenda  Determine Presenters  The chairman prepares the letter inviting the prospects to the special meeting

8  Copies of the agenda and letters are given to the members  Letters are signed by the Lion who will contact the prospective new lion not the club officers, unless they are one of the sponsors.  Letters will be followed up by a personal phone call from the sponsoring lion within 7 days after mailing to verify if they are attending.

9  We can call it “report night “  Membership Committee reviews the original list of prospects one at a time and asks members for the results of their contacts.  Club prepares for the special meeting.  Meal or snacks?  How to make prospects welcome and comfortable?  Reviews checklist of needed items, such as applications, presenters, who is responsible for food, greeting, seating, etc.

10  Start on time.  Keep presentations to 10 minutes each. One on your local club service projects and one highlighting any district, state or LCI projects and cost of membership.  Ask if there are any questions. Remember that we have several types of membership options.  Have each sponsor come forward an get an application to give their guest. Offer to help them fill in the information. If they say they would like to take it with them that is fine, but first ask what their hesitation is. We must not have answered a question that they have in their mind. Invite them back to the next club meeting.  No regular club business should be discussed that night.

11  Have good Lions oriented program with a motivated impressive presenter on one of our signature projects.  You can install the new members or announce the installation date if choose not to do it that night. Do not postpone it more than the next meeting.  Give them a chance to share if they wish.  Have fun, tail twist, joke.  Any reports given should be positive ones.  If you are asking for volunteers on anything, you better make sure that you will have hands waving all over the room.

12  Well organized  Make sure spouses, partners and family members are invited.  Have all membership kits and pins ready  Certificates already filled out and signed  CELEBRATE !!!
