2 Cyflwyniad – Nod Introduction - Aim “Ein nod ym Mwrdd Iechyd Hywel Dda yw galluogi pawb sy’n derbyn neu’n defnyddio’n gwasanaeth, i wneud hynny trwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg neu Saesneg, yn unol â dewis personol ac i annog defnyddwyr a darparwyr eraill i ddefnyddio a hyrwyddo’r iaith Gymraeg o fewn y sector iechyd.” (Cynllun Iaith Gymraeg Ebrill 2010) “At Hywel Dda Health Board our aim is to enable everyone who receives or uses our services to do so through the medium of Welsh or English, according to personal choice & to encourage other users & providers to use & promote the Welsh language within the health sector.” (Welsh Language Scheme April 2010)

3 Dyletswydd Statudol Statutory Duty Deddf yr Iaith Gymraeg 1993 Mesur yr Iaith Gymraeg 2011  Wrth gynnal busnes cyhoeddus yng Nghymru byddwn yn trin yr iaith Gymraeg a’r Saesneg ar y sail eu bod yn gyfartal.  Pob corff cyhoeddus i ddatblygu Cynllun Iaith Gymraeg  I gyflawni’r uchod datblygodd Bwrdd Iechyd Hywel Dda Strategaeth Sgiliau Dwyieithog Welsh Language Act 1993 Welsh Language Measure 2011  In the conduct of public business in Wales the Welsh and English languages will be treated on the basis of equality  All public bodies to produce Welsh language Schemes  In order to complete the above Hywel Dda Health Board began by developing a Bilingual Skills Strategy

4 Yn seiliedig ar dystiolaeth – angen iaith Evidence based – language need  Fframwaith Strategol Llywodraeth Cymru ‘Mwy na geiriau’ (2012)  4 grŵp blaenoriaeth lle bo derbyn gwasanaethau drwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg yn gallu bod yn angen clinigol  plant a phobl ifanc  pobl hŷn  anableddau dysgu  iechyd meddwl Mae pwysigrwydd yr uchod yn cael ei grynhoi yn stori’r claf.  The Welsh Government Strategic Framework ‘More than just words’ (2012)  4 priority groups where being able to receive services through the medium of Welsh can be a clinical necessity  children & young people  older people  learning disabilities  mental health disorders The importance of the above is captured in the following patient story.

7 Nod ac amcanion y strategaeth Aims & objectives of the strategy  Adnabod sgiliau iaith cyfredol ein gweithlu er mwyn galluogi ni i ddarparu gwasanaeth iechyd dwyieithog  Pob tîm yn cael eu cefngoi i ddarparu gwasanaeth dwyieithog drwy ddarparu cynllun gweithredu a cau unrhyw fwlch drwy:  weithio’n greadigol  hyfforddiant  recriwtio Byddant yn cael eu galluogi i gau unrhyw fwlch sgiliau Iaith Gymraeg a nodwyd.  Identify language skills of current Workforce to deliver a healthcare service bilingually.  Each service team supported to provide a bilingual service by developing an action plan outlining how through  creative workforce planning  training and  recruitment They will be enabled to close any identified Welsh Language skills gap.

Inspiring & motivating others to achieve.  It is possible – there is always a way to make something happen.

18 Gwneud iddo weithio Making it happen  Calonogol – camau bach  Ddim yn disgwyl neu’n anelu at sgiliau iaith rhugl, ond y gallu i gyfathrebu negeseuon syml er mwyn sicrhau bod y claf yn gyfforddus, dyma’r cam pwysig cyntaf, tuag sicrhau ‘geiriau o gysur’.  Reassure- simple steps. Not expecting or aiming for fluent Welsh language skills, but the ability to communicate simple messages to put patients at their ease is an excellent first step towards many more 'words of comfort.'
