Let us Remember…

FAITH: As Believers… We understand we are living in a reality that is increasingly multi‐religious. We believe in ourselves, others and the Creator’s will to make a better world. We promote acting in prayer and faith with all cultures and religions. With Enthusiasm… We understand the joy of living is contagious, and it permeates our daily lives. We consider that the joy is in the journey, no matter how difficult. We promote acting passionately and tirelessly to spread happiness. Using Kindness and Creativity… We understand young people’s need for compassion as they face their problems. We consider patience with one another shows love and builds bonds of peace. We promote trust and hope through actively listening and sharing.

SERVICE: Through Responsibility… We understand fulfilling commitments brings meaning to our lives. We consider providing opportunities an essential quality of our Charism. We promote action which empowers young people. Through Example… We understand, in this era of globalization, there is a lack of witness. We consider that actions speak louder than words. We promote fully committing ourselves each day in the Lasallian Charism. With Devotion… We understand that it is in small acts that we can make a difference. We consider each individual valuable. We promote working ardently for the young, especially the poor.

COMMUNITY: As Family… We understand the need for us to participate within the Lasallian Family. We consider growth through shared experience moves us closer to our mission. We promote sharing in each other’s experiences for greater understanding. In Union… We understand together we can build a Civilization of Love (Pope John Paul II). We consider our calling to come together to build a better world. We promote strengthening our bonds of communication. With Humility… We understand De La Salle freed his heart and humbled himself before God. We consider that only with a humble spirit can we share what we are. We promote touching the hearts of others.

“The aspiration that humanity nurtures, amid countless injustices and sufferings, is the hope of a new civilization marked by freedom and peace. But for such an undertaking, a new generation of builders is needed. Moved not by fear or violence but by the urgency of genuine love, they must learn to build, brick by brick, the city of God within the city of man. Allow me...to consign this hope of mine to you: you must be those "builders!"...God is entrusting to you the task, at once difficult and uplifting, of working with him in the building of the civilization of love.” -Pope John Paul II

Our Vision and Passion As Young Lasallians, we are passionate about:  Making more and better use of the sometimes latent potential of the Lasallian Global Network.

Our Vision and Passion As Young Lasallians, we are passionate about:  Advocating for providing young people with the tools and support required to integrate holistically their life experiences through effective accompaniment that leads to personal and vocational growth.

Our Vision and Passion As Young Lasallians, we are passionate about:  Being active in the Lasallian Educational Mission, especially through service with the poor. This inspires us to be agents of change in our world and challenges us to be stewards of the vitality and sustainability of the Lasallian Family and the Lasallian Educational Mission.

Our Commitment Hence we commit to:  Exploring and understanding local realities in order to respond to specific needs  To act upon these by: ▪ Providing adequate ongoing formative experiences ▪ Responding accordingly through local gatherings / initiatives

Our Commitment Hence we commit to:  Connecting Young Lasallians with each other at different levels - local, sector, District, Regional, and International.  To act upon these by: ▪ Identifying, enhancing, encouraging communication strategies between Lasallians at all levels ▪ Expanding District / Regional gatherings to involve Lasallians working outside of Lasallian schools and works ▪ Reaching out to IALU-sponsored Lasallian Leadership Conference ▪ Introducing younger students to the Lasallian Global network ▪ Ensuring follow-up to local, sector, District, and Regional projects

Our Commitment Hence we commit to:  Inviting the different groups of Young Lasallians to begin a reflection on accompaniment.  To act upon these by: ▪ Providing mutual support and to challenge one another to foster vocational growth ▪ Providing formation that empowers Young Lasallians to carry out a peer-to-peer mentoring program ▪ Advocating for Holistic education of those entrusted to our care ▪ Sharing personal experiences after formative experiences ▪ Being present and accessible to youth groups in places where Lasallian spirit needs support

Our Commitment Hence we commit to:  Networking among service and social justice programs and projects among Lasallian schools and works.  To act upon these by: ▪ Compiling a list of existing service programs ▪ Encouraging further collaboration among various Lasallian Volunteer programs ▪ Ensuring that a Lasallian-Service Learning framework is used ▪ Promoting self-sufficiency through, and for, our programs

Our Commitment Hence we commit to:  Promoting the values of faith, service, and community through exposure and connection to the worldwide Lasallian Educational Mission.  To act upon these by: ▪ Encouraging formal orientation programs aimed at new students and staff members ▪ Inviting Young Lasallians to collaborate and take leadership roles in existing programs ▪ Engaging leaders in the Lasallian Family in conversation about International Assemblies, to ensure appropriate objectives are carried out

Our Commitment Hence we commit to:  Promoting the values of faith, service, and community through exposure and connection to the worldwide Lasallian Educational Mission.  To act upon these by: ▪ Utilizing the Institute website and other existing website to disseminate information ▪ Identifying creative ways to make existing Lasallian documents more accessible ▪ Offering Young Lasallians’ linguistic skills to translate key documents into languages other than the three official Institute languages

Our Voice While the Lasallian Family, especially we Young Lasallians, is aware of the privileged role young people play in evangelizing other young people, there is inequality with regard to the recognition and representation of Young Lasallians in Mission and Institute structures. We wish to ensure that our participation in the Lasallian Educational Mission is effective and that the voice of Young Lasallians is heard. Therefore, rather than only parallel structures for Young Lasallians at different levels of the Institute, we call for representation within existing structures so that our hopes and dreams find full expression in the Lasallian Family.

Our Voice Hence, we also call for….  Young Lasallian representatives to be appointed at each of the schools and other works to closely collaborate with Lasallian Animators and Vocation Directors.

Our Voice Hence, we also call for….  Existing and future Young Lasallian groups and resources be linked with pre-existing Lasallian structures, groups, and resources to strengthen and support each other.

Our Voice Hence, we also call for….  Young Lasallian Councils at local, sector, District, Regional, and International levels to be continued or created.

 Young Lasallians Toolkit  Regional / District Speaking Opportunities

We accept the challenge of Br. Álvaro’s invitation to be Generation ‘H’ - the Hope Generation. We commit to building together a world that is more livable, more human and more fraternal. We do this mindful that we are the future and the future is now, and that with the help of those who have marched through the night before us, we can authentically respond to God’s call in our lives.

May the Spirit continue to open our eyes wider, so that we may touch hearts more deeply, and our work be done with greater zeal.

Finally, may the Spirit, as the Founder expressed, “help us not be troubled about the present or disquieted about the future, but be concerned about the moment we must now live.”

May we move forward knowing that God, “who guides all things with wisdom and serenity, whose way it is not to force the inclinations of persons,” wills us “now” to commit to this work.
