4. Where are Aborigine’s From? There are many different theories but the most recent suggest that aborigines are the descendants of explorers from South Asia who arrived around 50,000 years ago. Human remains found at Lake Mungo in central Australia seem to back this up. This means Aborigines have lived in their traditional territory longer than any other indigenous group outside Africa. Aborigines have one of the world‘s longest surviving cultures. It is at least 50,000 years old and it may be as old as 150,000!
