3 Australian Aborigines Learning Outcomes All of you should be able to identify an indigenous people and state where they live and describe the climate. Most of you should be able to describe how they have adapted their lifestyle to the conditions of their habitat. Some of you might be able to link their lifestyle to their environment. L.O To use a range of information sources to describe and explain how Aborigines have adapted to life in the outback

4 Where are Aborigine’s From? There are many different theories but the most recent suggest that aborigines are the descendants of explorers from South Asia who arrived around 50,000 years ago. Human remains found at Lake Mungo in central Australia seem to back this up. This means Aborigines have lived in their traditional territory longer than any other indigenous group outside Africa. Aborigines have one of the world‘s longest surviving cultures. It is at least 50,000 years old and it may be as old as 150,000!

5 Which month is coolest? What and when is the highest temperature? Which areas are warmer? Inland or coastal? N/S/E/W? The UK gets an average 838mm of rain each year. Is this more or less than Australia? Why might the climate make life hard for Aborigines
