2 Define the following terms:  denotation –  connotation –  homonym –  idiom –

3 Transitive Verbs – Intransitive Verbs – Types of Sentences ◦ Declarative – ◦ Interrogative – ◦ Imperative – ◦ Exclamatory –

4 Write the sentence, underline the dependent clause, circle the subject and double underline the verb. (in the clause)  The students that are in my fourth period are smart.  Even though I was reading quietly, the teacher made me go back to my seat.

5 In each set, identify the clauses as direct object, object of the preposition, or predicate nominative. There is one of each.: a) My first impression is that you are honest. b.) We cannot talk about what he said. c.) I heard you were leaving. a.) She could not see the game from where she sat. b.) The fact is you are not ready. c.) I believe that everything happens for a reason.
