3  4) Chief Diplomat  The main architect of American foreign policy  5) Commander in Chief  Head of the nations armed forces  6) Chief Legislator  Architect of public policies at home

4  7) Chief of Party  The leader of the political party they are apart of  8) Chief Citizen  The president is expected to be the true representative of the people  Expected to represent the public’s interest no matter what

5  Natural born citizen  Be at least 35 years old  Have been a resident for 14 year in the United States  Combined…  Terms:  4 years each  Maximum of two after 1951  Following FDR’s 4 elected terms

6  The scheme in case there is a vacancy for the office of President  Death, etc.  Presidential Succession Act of 1947  An order of 18 positions that would be in line for President in case of vacancies

7  Duties:  Preside over the Senate  Help decide question of Presidential disability  Other needs of the office…  John Adams called the office the most “useless invention of man”
