8. Interesting Fact: Alumni Dennis Weaver, famous for playing David Mann in the Steven Spielberg movie Duel, studied at Missouri Southern State University. At that time MSSU was called Joplin Junior College.

9. Interesting Facts Missouri Southern State University originally opened as Joplin Junior College in 1937. President Obama has been to this college twice, once on May 29, 2011, and again on May 21, 2012.
