Don’t wear damp clothing  Wear protective gear- prevent trauma in the groin area!  Testicular Self-Examinations on regular basis  Clean those undergarments! Fresh pair every day! (Cotton only!)  PROTECT against STD’s by abstinence or barrier methods  Regular male breast examinations

4  Regular bathing! Prevent vaginal irritation by washing and drying, and avoid thongs, tight jeans, and pantyhose for long periods of time. Clean those undergarments! (Cotton only!)  Relieve menstrual cramps by taking warm baths, exercise, eat right, reduce caffeine and sugar.  Breast Self-Examinations and pelvic exams (pap smears) on regular basis  Wipe front to back after urination.  PROTECT against STD’s by abstinence or barrier methods

6  Perform after a shower when scrotum is relaxed  1. Stand in front of mirror with penis out of way  2. Examine testicles. Hold each testicle between thumbs and fingers, rolling gently between fingers.

8 3. Look and feel for any lumps or changes in size or shape (might feel like grain of rice or hard lump) 4. Contact doctor if you notice anything that seems abnormal Testicular Self Exams, cont.

10  Perform after shower at least 1 week after menstrual period  1. Stand in front of mirror. Place one hand over head, and use the other to examine each breast.  2. Use thumb and index finger to squeeze nipple and look for unusual discharge

12 3. Check for swelling, dimpling, or scaliness 4. Use 3 to 4 fingers to feel each breast for unusual lumps or thickening under skin. Check under armpits and between breasts, too. Breast Self Examinations

14  Test to check for pre-cancerous cells in cervix speculum  The doctor will put a special instrument called a speculum into the vagina to open it so the sample can be taken.  The doctor will collect a sample of cells  ***Ask for a FULL STD test if you’ve been sexually active when you have a pap smear done!!!!***
