6 The second stage of the second phase of Data and Information Network Project in support of the Integrated Management of Coastal Zone SPINCAM began with workshops in the five countries of the region to inform local actors on the objectives and scope of the pilot project SPINCAM Capacity Buiding Activities

7 CPPS attended the ICAN7 and Spatial Planning Course Marina OceanTeacher Global Academy in Cape Town The working group was well represented SPINCAM also exposed the operation of Atlas SPINCAM as a sign of efforts to make spatial planning MSP Marino (by its acronym in English) in the Southeast Pacific. 8 Course on Marine Spatial Planning and Integrated Coastal Zone. 25-29 May 2015, Santa Marta (Colombia) This course was part of the activities of the Training Plan SPINCAM II Project, held at the Regional Training Center of Marine Sciences for Latin America INVEMAR in Santa Marta, Colombia, which is part of the Ocean Teacher strategy - Global Academy, IODE-UNESCO- Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission. 12 CPPS/UNESCO/CI Partnership Conservation and Sustainable use of Mangroves in the Southeast Pacific Objective: Promote the conservation of the biodiversity and rational use of the resources from mangroves in order to support the communities depending on these peculiar ecosystem. To develop a Regional Action Plan to support communities in the conservation of mangroves

13 CPPS/UNESCO/CI Partnership Conservation and Sustainable use of Mangroves in the Southeast Pacific Activities: “ Improving mangrove conservation across the Easter Tropical Pacific Seascape (ETPS) through coordinated regional and national strategy development and implementation”, 22 – 23 june 2015, Guayaquil (Ecuador)

14 CPPS/UNEP/FAO/CI Partnership to raise Regional Awareness on Marine Litter Activities: Workshops to raise awareness with fishermen and school teachers on marine litter. Prepare educational material (videos, posters, leaflets etc) Organize a network of teachers and students – Friends of the Sea – to promote activities like beach clean ups and awareness campaigns. Implementation of CPPS / UNEP Project "Development and implementation of Local Action Plans to promote the management of marine debris in coastal communities of the Southeast Pacific"

15 Main Objective To raise awareness in fishing communities in the Southeast Pacific countries, addressing environmental problems generated by marine litter, including its proper disposal and/or reuse, looking into practical and environmentally friendly solution Establishment of the Network "Friends of the Sea", in order to combat marine litter in the Southeast Pacific countries (UNEP / CPPS).
