3 What is PERSGA  It is an intergovernmental organization governed by a Council which includes environmental ministers from each of the SEVEN PERSGA member states,  PERSGA is funded by the member states, who all contribute to its budget in addition to some funds from other regional and international donors,  PERSGA carries out its activities in close cooperation with other international organizations such as ALECSO, ROPME, UNDP, UNEP, The World Bank, IsDB, IUCN and IMO,

4 Objectives Over all Objective: to conserve the coastal and marine environment in the RSGA “PERSGA has been implementing the SAP” 1.Reduction of marine pollution and navigation risks, 2.Management & sustainable use of living marine recourses, 3.Conservation of habitats and biodiversity, 4.Establishment of a network of marine protected areas, 5.Support for integrated coastal zone management, 6.Promotion of public awareness, participation and capacity building within the region,
