Higher, even!” Think-Pair-Share with your shoulder partner What does this dialogue illustrate about the character of Icarus? How could this relate to the story’s theme?

Theme vs. Authors Purpose The writer of a magazine article may present a persuasive case that scientific progress is dangerous. 1. What would be the authors purpose in this example? 2. Explain how the author’s purpose is different from theme using this example and the myth you have read. With your table, explain a major theme that you think Daedalus and Icarus puts forward. Use specific examples from the text to illustrate your point.
