Step 1: Identify the Problem Type the ideas you listed as the problems students have with their backpacks. What are the problems you are trying to solve?

Step 2: Research the Problem Type the type of tests you will put the backpack through that will satisfy your needs.

Step 3: Design a Solution What options are you considering for your backpack? – Example: what material are you thinking of making it out of? Do you have to make any trade-offs? Do you have any constraints related to your design?

Backpack Design You will hand draw a picture of your backpack on a piece of plain white paper. Use colored pencils/marker where needed. I will scan your drawing so you can put it into your presentation.
