ARIEL Building Pierre Bricault

Proton Beam specification The proton beam energy must be between 450 to 500 MeV. 200 µA with proton beam intensity losses less than 1 nA/m. The proton beam line must be doubly achromatic The proton beam spot must be fully adjustable between 2 to 10 mm. The proton beam rotation on the target is specified by the radius of rotation, the diameter of the proton beam spot and the frequency: Radius: 10 mm Diameter Beam spot: 4mm Frequency: Hz Dedicated proton beam dump at the exit of the proton hall capable of 200 µA. Dedicated 200 µA proton beam dump at the exit of the proton hall on the 45º Electron beam specification The electron bean energy can vary between 25 and 75 MeV. Electron beam line must be doubly achromatic, position and angle on the converter. The 100 kW electron beam spot must be de-focussed and have a 10 mm in diameter. The 500 kW electron beam spot must be de-focussed and have a uniform pattern of 20 mm in diameter.

Target Stations Target station design utilises the experience we built over the 10 years of ISAC-I operation. Target module shielding plug Target Station #1 The first target station to be operational in July kW of electron beam and 100 kW of proton beam. Target Station #2 Target station #2 to be operational in July 2017 The design will accommodate 500 kW of electron beam. In the YP it will be used for the 500 kW converter development test bed.

Services To service the beam lines and the target station we are planning to have a remote handling manipulator that will be attached to the overhead crane. The remote handling manipulator need a space of 1.5 m on each side of the beam line centre. The manipulator will service the following items: Heavy-Ions Front-end Optics Heavy-Ions Front-end Diagnostics Front end vacuum Object Slit Image Slit Laser Optics, window and prism Proton Entrance diagnostics Proton Beam dump

Hot Cells One for target exchange, One for maintenance. Ante room common to both hot-cell for service. Conditioning Stations To prepare the target for on-line operation we will have conditioning stations. Storage vault for 24 targets Shielded room to prepare spent target shipping.
