WHAT DOES IT REALLY MEAN TO CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD? Not This: Calling the name "Lord, Lord" (Mt. 7:21-23) Praying the "Sinner's Prayer" (_?????_) But This: Believing (Rom. 10:14) Hearing and heeding the calling of God (Acts 2:21, 39; cf. 2 Th. 2:13-14; 1 Pet. 1:22-23) Obedience to the will of the Lord (Luke. 6:46; 1 John 2:3-6) Repentance and baptism (Acts 2:21, 36-41) Baptism (Acts 22:16) Trusting and depending upon God throughout one's life (Acts 9:14)

ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD... BY “FAITH” DOES NOT MEAN “FAITH ONLY” “By faith Abel OFFERED unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain....” (Heb. 11:4) “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death...for he hath had witness borne to him that before his translation he had been WELL-PLEASING unto God” (Heb. 11:5) “By faith Noah, being warned of God concerning things not seen as yet, MOVED with godly fear, PREPARED an ark to the saving of his house....” (Heb. 11:7) “By faith Abraham, when he was called, OBEYED to go out unto a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he WENT OUT, not knowing whither he went. By faith he BECAME A SOJOURNER in the land of promise....” (Heb. 11:8-9)

REPENTANCE BEFORE FAITH? “Repentance is always mentioned before faith in every passage where both are mentioned together (cf. Mt. 21:31- 32; Mk. 1:14-15; Acts 20:21; Heb. 6:1)” BUT --- THE Order of Mention Does NOT MEAN THE ORDER IN GOD’S PLAN. How can the goodness of God lead a sinner to repent (Rom. 2:4), unless he first believes that God is good? Godly sorrow leads to repentance (2 Cor. 7:10), but how can one have godly sorrow unless he first believes in God? Jesus directed His apostles that repentance be preached among all nations (Lk. 24:46-47), but if a sinner cannot believe until after he has repented, why preach to him until then?
