4. “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Cor 5:7). “For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘The just shall live by faith’” (Romans 1:17).

5. Abel (Hebrews 11:4) –It matters how we worship God! Genesis 4:1-7; John 4:23-24; Matt. 15:7-9 –The righteous have influence after death. “he being dead still speaks” (Heb. 11:4) Hebrews 11 Revelation 14:12-13

6. Enoch (Hebrews 11:5) –Enoch “walked with God.” Genesis 5:18-24 Ephesians 2:10; 4:1; 5:2, 8, 15; I John 1:5-7 –Enoch did not see death, “God took him,” because “he pleased God.” Hebrews 9:27 I Thessalonians 4:1-2, 15-17

7. Noah (Hebrews 11:7) –Moved to action b/c of his godly fear. –Deut. 10:12; I Peter 2:17; Heb. 12:28; Rev. 14:6-7 –Obedient to God in all things. Genesis 6:22; 7:5; John 15:14 –Noah saved his family! “prepared an ark for the saving of his household” Acts 10:24, 33, 44-48; I Timothy 4:16

8. Abraham (Hebrews 11:8-10, 17-19) –Obeyed, not knowing where he was going. Genesis 12:1-4; 2 Corithians 5:7 –Willing to sacrifice his only son to God! –Gen. 22:1-19; Heb. 11:17-19; Luke 14:25-33 –Do we wait and seek for the city of God? Heb. 11:9-10, 13-16; I Pet. 2:11; Phil. 3:20-21
