Observations You must attend two thirds of the Dark Sky Observing Nights: Tuesday February 2Monday February 8 Monday February 29Wednesday March 2 Thursday March 31Tuesday April 5 The first four nights start at 7:30pm and the last two start at 8:30pm. They are weather dependent. Cancellation notices will be posted on the APSU Astronomy website by 5:00pm on the day of the observation You must also attend at least one of the 1 st Quarter Observing Nights: Monday February 15 Tuesday March 15 Monday April 3 all 1 st Quarter nights start at 7:30pm At the observing nights you will be expected to help set-up and take down the equipment.

Exams 3 regular exams worth 20% each multiple choice questions and 3-5 essays The tentative exam dates are: Thursday February 18 Thursday March 24 Tuesday May 3

Projects Two term projects of significant length will be required for the course. The topic of the first project will be an enhanced book review and will be due Thursday March 3 (the Thursday before Spring Break). The subject of the second project is to be an individual, event or series of events of historical importance to astronomy or the history of astronomy of a non-western culture. The second project will be due Tuesday April 26. Both projects will require both a written paper and an oral presentation to the class of approximately 10 minutes in length.
