2 What is the Privacy Technical Assistance Center? PTAC is part of ED’s comprehensive privacy effortPTAC  Chief Privacy Officer  FERPA NPRM  Privacy Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) Runs in conjunction with SLDS program, extension of technical assistance (TA) efforts & State Support Team

What is PTAC? 3 Proactive, interactive, central, “one-stop” TA Coordination across Department of Education PTAC & Family Policy Compliance Office (FPCO)  PTAC: Technical Assistance, Helpdesk & Training  FPCO: Administers FERPA, authority over FERPA violations & regulations Primary audience  SEAs, LEAs, IHEs, early childhood agencies  TA to protect privacy of student-level longitudinal data in LDSs
