Lab 1-4 Constructing a Field Map Take out the lab on “Constructing a Field Map.”

Start by choosing a value which is in the middle near the middle. Huh? In other words: you want a value that is both away from the edges and in the middle of the range of values on this map. This will give you the best chance of starting with a complete line. Find all the 22 degrees marks & darken them with pencil.

USE PENCIL!

Not enough points to get a good pattern? Add some data points. Just because there are no more 22’s doesn’t mean they don’t exist. 22 belongs between 21 and 23, (etc.).

Now connect the dots with a smooth curve. Do not go past the edge of your map. You have no data from which to make a pattern.

Now go to the next higher or lower value.
