Early Literacy Implementation Reporting for Non-FAST Districts DECEMBER 15, 2014

Agenda  Review of reporting requirements related to universal screening, progress monitoring, and interventions  Overview of Iowa TIER  Schools interoperability framework (SIF) and student information systems (SIS)  Access to Iowa TIER  Next steps

Universal Screening Requirements  Assessment windows  Fall: August 28-October 10  Winter: January 12-February 6  Spring: April 27-May 22  Expectation is that all students are assessed in grades K-3 using a state- approved screening measure  Students in programs, day facilities, and residential facilities should be screened and monitored appropriately  Department will work off-line with districts not using an approved measure to plan for compliance

Results of Universal Screening & Progress Monitoring and Intervention Requirements  Students who did not meet benchmark in Fall 2014 are considered to be at-risk  At-risk students are required to have their progress monitored weekly; providing intervention is recommended  Student who don’t meet benchmark in both Fall and Winter of are considered to be substantially deficient  Substantially deficient students are required to be provided interventions and have their progress monitored weekly  Students above benchmark for two consecutive windows are not required to have interventions or progress monitoring  Iowa TIER will soon show indicators for students who are at-risk and substantially deficient

Data Reporting for Districts not using the FAST Assessment  Universal screening data will be uploaded into Iowa TIER beginning in Jan/Feb of 2015  Includes Fall 2014 data  Plan is that progress monitoring/intervention data will be collected in Spring 2015 SRI for school year  Basic data collection; may be added into TIER in the future
