3 How did we get to this point Reviewed the BDA (2008) Curriculum Framework Hosted a number of consultation events in 2010 with placement providers Developed a model and consulted via an on- line survey.

4 How did we get to this point The results of the survey were discussed with Stakeholders in October 2010. Stakeholders advised to develop the new placement structure.

5 Philosophy The learning outcomes and structure of the new placements are based on the stages of the Nutrition and Dietetic Care Process.

6 Diagnosis Identify and label problem Determine contributing risk factors Cluster signs and symptoms Intervention Plan nutrition intervention - Goals and plan of action Implement nutrition intervention Care delivered Monitoring and Evaluation Monitor progress Measure outcome indicators Evaluate outcomes Assessment Collect timely & appropriate data Interpret with evidence-based standards Screening and Referral Nutrition & Dietetic Care Process

7 Placement structure Placement 1 is 2 weeks Placement 2 is 12 weeks Placement 3 is 14 weeks

8 Placements What will remain the same: The placements will continue to be competence based assessments. Students will be required to gather a portfolio of evidence to show their performance against the learning outcomes.

9 Placements What will be different ? Or new and improved ?

10 The learning outcomes have been rationalised so that there are fewer, they are more relevant and assessment as a result will be easier. There won’t be any tools. The paperwork has been simplified to make life easier for you. Placements

15 Approval Placement 1 will be approved during the workshop of the 8/11/11 Placement 2 in Feb/March 2012 Placement 3 in June/July 2012
