THE SAYING IS TRUSTWORTHY

FIRST TRUSTWORTHY STATEMENT 1 Tim 1:15 “The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” 1 Tim 1:15 “The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” Jn 3:16 “…that whosoever should believe in Him will be saved.” Jn 3:16 “…that whosoever should believe in Him will be saved.” Lk 5:32 “I have not come to call righteous men but sinners to repentance.” Lk 5:32 “I have not come to call righteous men but sinners to repentance.” Lays our foundation of our eternal salvation in the free grace of God…not by works, but by faith. Lays our foundation of our eternal salvation in the free grace of God…not by works, but by faith.

SECOND TRUSTWORTHY STATEMENT 1 Tim 4:8 “Godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. The saying is trustworthy, for if we have died with him, we will also live with him” 1 Tim 4:8 “Godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. The saying is trustworthy, for if we have died with him, we will also live with him” Gal 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and delivered Himself up for me.” Gal 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and delivered Himself up for me.” There is a double blessedness through salvation - of time AND eternity. There is a double blessedness through salvation - of time AND eternity.

THIRD TRUSTWORTHY STATEMENT 2 Tim 2:11 “The saying is trustworthy, for if we have died with Him, we will also live with Him.” 2 Tim 2:11 “The saying is trustworthy, for if we have died with Him, we will also live with Him.” The Lord gives us a clear picture of the life we are called to as believers; it is one of death first, then life. The Lord gives us a clear picture of the life we are called to as believers; it is one of death first, then life. Bonhoeffer: “When Christ calls a man, He bids him, “Come, die.” Bonhoeffer: “When Christ calls a man, He bids him, “Come, die.” Death & life are two branches of the same tree – the cross of death was also the branch of life. Death & life are two branches of the same tree – the cross of death was also the branch of life.

FOURTH TRUSTWORTHY STATEMENT Titus 3:8 “The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to do good works.” Titus 3:8 “The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to do good works.” Jm 2:17 “…faith without works is dead.” Jm 2:17 “…faith without works is dead.” Eph 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Eph 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

COMMUNION REMEMBRANCES… 1.The root of our salvation is in the free grace of God. You have not or cannot earn it. Salvation is by faith in Jesus. 2.The privilege of our salvation is that Christ is in the life we now live, and the life which is to come. 3.It is only in our dying to self that we can truly live in Christ. He must increase; I must decrease. 4.We have the privilege of being Jesus in skin, of bringing His life to a dying world, to a world who does not yet know Him.
