DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE NORTH AND SOUTH Sectionalism

CREATING A SPOKE DIAGRAM  Basically a web or cluster to present information

CREATING A SPOKE DIAGRAM  Read through the information (either North or South)  As you read highlight or underline key pieces of information for each of the heading (ie: climate and geography, population etc…) at least 3-5  Brainstorm ideas for pictures or visuals you could include with each key fact  With your partner begin a rough draft of the diagram  *Focus on information that is clear and understandable  * Information is complete and thorough (KISS principle- bullets of info not sentences)

SCORING GUIDE- SPOKE DIAGRAM OF THE NORTH AND SOUTH Clear and understandable – easy to read and gives a clear picture of the region and features. Complete and thorough: includes 3-5 facts about each category, 2 visuals that make sense, title, topic in the middle. Accuracy, neatness and creativity. _________10 points _________30 total points

CHECKLIST FOR SPOKE DIAGRAM FINAL COPY  1. Title at the top “ The Features of the _______” (fill in North/South)  2. Spoke diagram as center and 6(or 7) categories  3. Each category includes at least 3-5 facts and 2 visuals. You can do more if you choose too.  4. Information should be clear and understandable as well as complete and thorough. KISS principle  5. Use color and creativity to make it look good to the audience.  6. Check it with your scoring guide – make sure it is an “A” grade  Good Luck
