PRONI  PRONI created by Public Records Act (NI) 1923  Opened its doors in March 1924  54km Paper Records held

Electronic NICS  Jan 03 – EDRMS Infrastructure project initiated  Jan 05 – 3 Pilot sites go-live  Roll-out to rest of NICS  Line of Business applications

Why worry?  In the era of Access to Information - Freedom of Information, Data Protection, etc. – retrieval has become a critical business need.  Digital black hole.

PRONI – Digital Preservation  Resources committed  Staff  Training  DPC membership

PRONI – web archiving  Project underway  Select 30 government websites  Harvest on agreed basis  Make available via PRONI website  TNA and European Archive
