Getting Registered 1. Teachers will begin to make their recommendations of core subjects for next year at the end of January through the beginning of February. 2. We take recommendations very seriously, however, students will have an opportunity to waive in and/or out of a course. 3. The deadline for waiving a course will be April 1 st, 2016.

4. Students and parents will have an opportunity to request electives through Parent Portal beginning Wednesday, February 17th 5. CHOOSE WISELY AND MAINTAIN BALANCE !! Although we encourage taking on AP and/or MOWR courses, be careful not to take on more than one can handle. “Trying out” a class is not recommended as schedule changes are not guaranteed and/or possible.

MOWR (Move On When Ready) Allows students to take courses at a college while earning college credit and high school credit at the same time. Pros 1.Paid for by the state (minimal cost to student). 2.Earn college credit before graduating from high school. 3.Weighted as an AP course in High School 4.Can possibly shorten the length of time needed to complete college. 5.Gives you access to that college and it’s facilities.

Cons 1.Transportation - Not provided to students by FC. Students must be able to get there and back on their own. 2.Local colleges will do their best to work with FCHS regarding the scheduling of courses. Not guaranteed to sync. 3.Parents won’t be able to access or communicate with college professors. 4.Content of a course may be of a mature nature. 5.Our breaks don’t typically sync with the college calendar 6.Taking MOWR courses not a guarantee for getting into some colleges
