In 2001, VeriFone introduced the HPV-20. This device interfaces with our petroleum POS terminals. Since 2001, the HPV-20 device has undergone some changes to keep up with technology. These changes include new hardware as well as new software. HPV-20 Models Introduction

There have been three generations of the HPV- 20. The first generation was a Hewlett-Packard e-PC. On the left is a picture of the e-PC. How to identify the e-PC HPV-20 Models

Starting in 2002, VeriFone started distribution of the Dell PC. The Dell GX-60 was the second generation of the HPV-20. On the left is a picture of the Dell GX-60. How to identify the GX-60 HPV-20 Models

Starting in 2006, VeriFone started manufacturing the V950. On the left is a picture of the V950. How to identify the V950 HPV-20 Models

VeriFone stopped manufacturing e-PC/HPV-20’s in The warranty for the e-PC’s hardware was for one year. Should the hardware fail or need to be replaced on an e-PC the entire HPV-20 will need to be replaced. VeriFone supports the e-PC should a location need assistance provided they have purchased PSP. The warranty for the Dell GX-60 hardware is for one year. As a VASC technician, should the hardware fail or need to be replaced on a Dell GX-60, you should follow the same procedure as any VeriFone repair. Obtain an MRA# and ship the entire device to the VeriFone repair center located in Louisville, Kentucky. The e-PC and GX-60 both run using Windows The V950 uses Windows XP. There is specific proprietary software that is pre- loaded on the HPV-20. Software for the HPV-20 Windows 2000 Windows XP HPV-20 Models

Although the proprietary software is pre-loaded on the HPV-20, as a VASC technician you should be aware the software needed is dependant on: 1. The type or model of HPV-20, and 2. The software application to be installed on the POS terminal(s). If the incorrect software is downloaded on the HPV-20 the system will not work properly. Software is pre-loaded, however, there are cases where you may need to re-image the HPV-20. Software for the HPV-20 is available on the VeriFone premier portal, should it be necessary to re-image. Dell manufactured two different types of internal modems for the GX-60. Should you need to re-image a Dell HPV-20 it will be critical for you to determine the type of modem. The software to be used/re-imaged is based on the type of modem. The illustrations on the left show the back of the GX- 60’s indicating the two different types of modems.
