GEMS Sunday Litany

Leader: Philippians 4:8 is God’s “right thinking” list for you and me. Will you read it aloud with me? ALL:Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things (Philippians 4:8).

GEMS: We need to fight for our minds, and fighting starts with thinking about what we think about!

Leader: God tells us to continuously reflect on and guard our thought lives because our minds are launch pads for our words and actions. To become the people God wants us to be, He commands us to love Him with our hearts and minds and to set our minds on what He desires.

Congregation: Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what the nature desires; but those who live in accordance to the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires (Romans 8:5).

GEMS: We need to fight for right thinking by testing every thought to the truth of God’s Word!

Leader: There is a right and good way to think. In the Bible God teaches us to evaluate all our thoughts. When our thoughts don’t line up with Scripture, we are to trade-in those negative thoughts for right-thinking thoughts.

Congregation: We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).

ALL: Heavenly Father, thank You that Your Son Jesus is the only true hope and victory for right thinking and right living. Teach us to take captive every thought and make it obedient to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
