Warm Up Copy the Essential Question on the top of page 45: How do you efficiently translate between representations (algebraically, graphically, numerically, in tables, and situations) of a linear function? Answer the following questions in complete sentences! 1. Describe how the dependent variable changes as the independent variable changes in a linear relationship. Give Examples. 2. How does the pattern of change for a linear relationship show up in a table, a graph, and an equation of the relationship?

Going Over Our Homework Protocol 1. Show everyone kindness and respect. 2. Listen to Mrs. S. to decide who goes first. 3. When it is your turn, share your answer and ask if anyone has questions. Use the whiteboard to show and justify your work and answers (if appropriate). 4. Move around your table group clockwise. 5. Everyone shares – no passing. 6. Correct and write notes to yourself as needed. 7. Show all of your work!! 8. Write Problem Problems on the board to solve as a whole class.

Homework check  Starting with the SPADE seat, share your answers to the worksheet Are there any questions your group cannot answer?

ACE Questions p. 12 #10-13, 27

2.1 Walking to Win

Strategies If you haven ’ t already, make a table, graph, and equation for the Walking Race problem about Emile and his brother.

2.2 Crossing the Line Goals: Understand the connections between linear equations and patterns in the tables and graphs of those relations, including rate of change, and the x- and y- intercepts. Translate information about linear relations given in a table, a graph, or an equation to one of the other forms. Find solutions to a problem using a table or a graph. Connect solutions in graphs and tables to solutions of equations.

2.2 Crossing the Line How can you tell how long the race should be from the graph and table? What information does the point (20, 50) represent in the problem? Would this be a data point for Henri or for Emile? How does the pair of values (10,55) from the table show up on the graph? How is it related to the equation?

Homework ACE Questions p. 31 #2, 5, 29, 32, 35 *(33,34,43) Write the homework in your spiral and in your agenda. *(starred) homework is not required, just more practice.

2 minute countdown Make sure your planner is filled out. Organize and put away your materials. Don’t leave anything behind! Thank someone for their help or kindness. Stay seated until Mrs. S dismisses you. Remember every minute counts!
