The OCEAN and the animals who live in it…..

Ocean animal habitats This presentation is a way for students to explore three different types of habitats in the ocean and a few animals who live there.

TABLE OF CONTENTS Coral Reef Open Sea Antarctica & the Arctic

HABITATS- Coral Reef Coral Reef Clown Fish Sea Turtles A coral reef is made up of many coral formation that make habitats for other animals to live in.

CORAL Can grow between ½ and 4 inches in a year. Form three main kinds of reefs. Most are found in warm water.

CLOWN FISH Twenty-eight different kinds. Come in other colors besides orange, black and white. Live in anemones and don’t get stung. Fire Clownfish Saddleback Clownfish Yellowtail Clownfish

SEA TURTLES There are seven kinds. They are all endangered. Six kinds live in the U.S.

HABITATS- Open Sea Dolphins Sharks Whales The open sea is when you are out in the middle of the ocean and you can’t see land in any direction you look.

DOLPHINS Are very smart . Live under the water, but breathe air just like humans. Talk in clicks and whistles. Don’t have noses, so they can’t smell.

SHARKS They breathe under water with gills. Can only swim forward. Have a REALLY good sense of smell. Great white Shark Hammerhead Sharks Whale Shark Nurse Shark

WHALES Some have one blowhole to breathe, and some have two. Blue whales are bigger than any dinosaurs. Many are endangered. Listen live to Humpback whales in Hawaii.

HABITATS- Antarctica & the Arctic Antarctica and the Arctic circle are also known as the North and South poles and can be found at the top and bottom of the globe. Penguins Polar Bears Seals

PENGUINS There are 17 different kinds. None can fly. King Penguin Rockhopper Penguin Chinstrap penguin Gentoo penguin There are 17 different kinds. None can fly. All have black backs and white bellies. Some have yellow or orange on their heads.

POLAR BEARS Have white fur, but black skin. Only live in the Arctic. Endangered species. Swims dog paddle.

SEALS 6 kinds live in Antarctica 6 kinds live in the Arctic. Excellent swimmers. Not very good walkers.
