Look how big the PacificOcean is. It’s ENORMOUS! Did you know that 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered by oceans?

3 I went on my computer to find out some information about the Pacific Ocean. Have a look at some of the interesting facts I found out. Volcanoes: What is the ring of fire? Most of the volcanoes (actually 75%) on earth are located in the Pacific Ocean basin, the volcanoes actually form a ring around the basin and therefore it is called the ring of fire. The Pacific Ocean is the biggest ocean in the world. The Atlantic Ocean is the second biggest. What does pacific mean? Pacific means "peaceful", coming from the Latin "pace" for peace Did you know that most of the world’s supply of fish is caught in the Pacific? Pacific Ocean Facts: The Great Barrier Reef: The Great Barrier Reef in Australia is the largest reef in the world stretching over more than 2,300km/1,429miles and including more than 1,000 islands.

10 Whales are mammals just like us except they live in the ocean
Whales are mammals just like us except they live in the ocean. Whales breathe air as we do. Therefore, they need to reach the surface of the ocean to breathe because they cannot breathe underwater. To breathe, whales have a blowhole in the top of their heads. When they reach the surface, they take air in through this blowhole. The Blue Whale is the largest animal to have ever lived. It can be 100 feet in length and weigh 120 tons. Each whale species has its own variety of sound or song, which can be a click, groan, whistle, creak, burp, cry, scream, or chirp. Some sounds are inaudible to humans but can be heard by other whales thousands of miles away. Have a listen to the sounds.
