1. How blessed the man who guides the poor by coun-sel… …strong and clear The Lord will sure-ly res-cue him when e - vil days draw near

The Lord will guard him in the land; his life is blessed… …in-deed; Nor will you let him fall be-fore his ad - ver - sar-ies’ greed.

2. The Lord sus-tains him on his bed of sick-ness and of pain. And from his bed you make him rise; he will his health re -gain.

Now as for me, I said, O Lord, have mer-cy on my soul. Be-cause a - gainst you I have sinned, re-store and make… …me whole.

3. My foes speak e - vil things of me and to each oth-er say, “When will he die; when will his name com-plete-ly pass a-way?”

And when he comes to see me here his words are all de-ceit. he gath - ers e - vil in his heart and tells it in the street.

4. All those who hate me whis-per ill, a-gainst me harm de-vise. “Some e - vil holds him fast,” they say… …“Brought down he will not rise.”

And e -ven my fa - mil - iar friend in whom my… …trust was real, the one who ate my bread, has turned and lift-ed up his heel.
