A Song For Such A Time As This Psalm 27

Israel’s Hymn Book

A Song of Confidence

1 The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. 3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident. 4 One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. 5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. 6 Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord.

7 Hear my voice when I call, O Lord; be merciful to me and answer me. 8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek. 9 Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, O God my Savior. 10 Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me. 11 Teach me your way, O Lord; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. 12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing out violence. 13 I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. 14 Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. (Psalm 27)

The Day of Trouble 2 When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. 3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident. (Psalm 27)

The Day of Trouble 12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing out violence. (Psalm 27)

1 The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? 10 REVELATION The Lord is my light. REDEMPTION The Lord is my salvation REFUGE The Lord is my stronghold

The Lord Is My Light 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1)

“The most important part of our task will be to tell everyone who will listen that Jesus is the only answer to the problems that are disturbing the hearts of men and the nations. We shall have the right to speak because we can tell from our experience that His light is more powerful than the deepest darkness … How wonderful that the reality of His presence is greater than the reality of the hell around us.” “Now, I know in my experience that Jesus’ light is stronger than the biggest darkness.”

The Lord Is My Salvation 47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.” (1 Samuel 17) 2 … Was my arm too short to deliver you? Do I lack the strength to rescue you? … (Isaiah 50) 1 Surely the arm of the L ORD is not too short to save, … (Isaiah 59)

The Lord Is My Stronghold 5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. (Psalm 27) 9 The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. 10 Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. (Psalm 9) 6 I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer. 7 Show the wonder of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes. (Psalm 17) 2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. (Psalm 18)

4 One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple… 8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek. (Psalm 27)

Hear Me 7 Hear my voice when I call, O Lord; be merciful to me and answer me. (Psalm 27)

Teach Me 11 Teach me your way, O Lord; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. (Psalm 27)

Confidence 13 I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. 14 Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. (Psalm 27)

Response “I have told you these things that you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
