Presentation transcript:

What does Web 2.0 mean?  Dictionary.com defines Web 2.0 as the internet as an interactive experience, rather than something to be absorbed  With web 2.0 the user has the ability to contribute to the internet, and to collaborate with others online rather than simply accessing the information

Important Terminology  Wiki- a website that allows anyone to add, delete, or revise content by using the internet  Blog- a website containing a person’s own experiences, observations, opinions, etc. It often includes links to other websites or images  Social networking- the use of a website to connect with people who share personal or professional interests (Facebook, Myspace)

 Podcasting- this is a series of audio or video files that are released and often downloaded- this is basically a radio- style show that is very inexpensive and can be easily posted  Photo/video sharing- this is when you publish your pictures or video online and allow others to view it (Flickr, SmugMug, Photobucket)  Tags/tagging- creating and managing labels (tags) that categorize content
