It’s Debate Time!!!

Debate Topics/Questions Nuclear Medicine Nuclear Disasters Coal vs. Nuclear Nuclear Weaponry Effects of different types of radiation on the body and what elements produce certain types of radiation. “The study of chemistry is an essential endeavor that lies in the tension between enhancing and harming life.”

Things to think about… Find information that supports your point of view. Find information that opposes your point of view. Find a counter argument to the opposition’s arguments. SUPPORT EVERYTHING WITH A CREDIBLE SOURCE OR DATA!!!!

Example of a solid argument According to the Department of Energy, the USA produces 20% of our electricity from nuclear power plants as of If we were to double that output and replace coal burning power plants with nuclear power plants, we would reduce our carbon emissions by 12 tons per year. From this, we can see that nuclear energy is better for the environment than coal.

Example of a weak argument I think the USA should double our nuclear power plants because then we would be releasing less CO 2 into the atmosphere.
