Respect Diversity Symbol Exhibit 2013

Appreciating Global Diversity By Showing Kindness The quilt symbolizes Telstar Elementary Students and their positive attitudes to one another regardless of race color or creed. The earth represents our global society. Children holding hands represents togetherness. The pictures of nature represents people working together to keep our earth clean and safe. Transformers Hand in on the World Telstar Elementary, OKC 1 st Grade

Be Bold, Be Original, Be Courageous BE SIGNIFICANT Ranchwood Elementary, Yukon Kindergarten Students The art around the outside symbolizes the three KIDS OF SIGNIFICANCE we studied, Ron McNair, Ruby Bridges and Rachel Beckwith. My goal with this project was to empower the children in my classroom to make a difference. It takes courage, boldness, tolerance and originality to be SIGNIFICANT every day!

The Great Tree of Peace - A Lesson from History Our 5 th graders took a leadership role to travel to every class, explain the history, and inspire each “branch’s” décor. They explored history, math & social studies through the arts. They assisted students in creating each unique class declaration of intent to create peace & respect in the world. Orvis Risner Elementary, Edmond Kindergarten – 5 th Grade

Beautiful Collections of "Diversi-Tree" S.E.A.R.C.H. Project 100 students from 2 elementary schools in Moore worked collaboratively & individually to produce a tree that represents celebrations around the world. This tree is in the Hallway at Santa Fe Elementary. Students researched a country of their choice as well as a celebration or holiday of importance to that country. Students then created an individual original ornament idea, photographed them & made a recording of their Santa Fe ES & Heritage Trails Elementary, Moore 3 rd – 6 th Grade

The Beauty of Diversity Large, mixed media sculpture, with several 3-D life-sized student depictions, three papier-mache’d cubes, and some masks. Harding Fine Arts Academy, OKC 9 th – 12 th Grades

Beauty of Diversity - America This presentation seeks to combine the very ideals of freedom of expression and loyalty to a nation that protects its entire people while unifying our entire fine arts department. Collaboration was enjoyed by the wind band, percussion, interpretive dance class, theatre class and visual art class within the confines of the inner city. Beauty of Diversity - America Performance Santa Fe South HS, OKC Performing Arts

You Can’t Judge a Book by its Color We rescued 500 books. After painting all with a primer in bright rainbow colors, we distributed the books for the children in the Outreach “Come Read with Me” program to alter with art materials while being involved in a curriculum about Diversity. The books were then gathered and assembled into a giant sculpture. Created by 300 Pre-Kindergarten – 12th Metropolitan Library System Partners
