Presentation transcript:

Microscope Lab: Leaf and Stem Objectives- Observe and diagram each plant organ accurately. Label each drawing as required and follow the rules of microscope drawings Materials- Microscope, color pencils, circle template, blank paper, prepared slides of a stem and of a leaf, textbook p. 642 and 655, lab reference book

Procedure: 1.Use one piece of blank paper for both microscope drawings. 2. Follow the rules of microscope drawings. 3. Label the following: On the leaf drawing: cuticle, upper epidermis, vascular bundle (xylem and phloem), palisade mesophyll, spongy mesophyll, lower epidermis, stomata. See p. 655 On the stem drawing: dermal tissue (epidermis), vascular tissue (vascular bundles), Ground tissue ( parenchyma, collenchyma, and sclerencyma cells), Cambian (Growth Tissue). See p. 642
