CAR PROBLEMS? BY: KYLE KIMBALL

ALL CARS ARE DIFFERENT. FROM THE FORD MUSTANG TO THE GEO METRO, WE KNOW THAT ALL CARS ARE BUILT DIFFERENTLY. SOME ARE LARGE AND POWERFUL WHILE OTHERS ARE SMALL AND BARELY SEEM TO QUALIFY AS A CAR. THERE ARE VEHICLES FOR TOWING, RACING, SHOWING, EVERYDAY USE, AND MANY OTHER USEFUL PURPOSES.

SIMILARITIES IN VEHICLES: AS WE KNOW, MOST VEHICLES RUN ON GASOLINE (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ELECTRIC CARS AND OTHER ALTERNATIVE FUELS). WE ALL FILL UP OUR CARS AT THE PUMP TO KEEP US ON THE MOVE, BUT NEVER STOP TO THINK ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON UNDER THE HOOD. SO WHAT IS IT THAT KEEPS A CAR RUNNING?

BASIC MAINTENANCE. CHECK OIL LEVEL AND BE SURE TO REPLACE IT AND THE OIL FILTER EVERY 3 MONTHS OR 3,000 MILES. CHECK TIRE PRESSURE. PSI INFORMATION IS LOCATED ON THE SIDE OF THE TIRE. CARRY A PRESSURE GAUGE IN YOUR VEHICLE. OIL ADDITIVES, FUEL ADDITIVES, AND MANY OTHER PRODUCTS ARE AVAILABLE TO INCREASE PERFORMANCE AND PROLONG LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. CHECK OTHER FLUID LEVELS SUCH AS COOLANT, BRAKE FLUID, POWER STEERING FLUID, AND CLUTCH FLUID.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? BASIC MAINTENANCE WILL IMPROVE THE LIFE OF THE ENGINE IN THE VEHICLE, ALLOWING YOU TO KEEP IT FOR A LONGER PERIOD OF TIME. IT WILL ALSO PREVENT MANY COSTLY PROBLEMS FROM EVER HAPPENING, AND IMPROVE YOUR MPG (MILES PER GALLON).

HOW MUCH DO YOU LOVE YOUR CAR? IF YOU HAVE ANY LOVE FOR YOU CAR, YOU WILL TAKE CARE OF IT WITH THESE BASIC MAINTENANCE TIPS. LOVE IT AND IT WILL LOVE YOU BACK.
