Good afternoon! BELL Work (5 min.) 1.Write down HW in planner. 2.Set up today’s pages Under your IN answer this question. What experience can you remember that relates to rocks? Some examples include finding them at the beach or camping, seeing them in different places, or others. Write 2-3 sentences.

Describe the basic processes that form Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic Rock. Simulate the processes of the Rock cycle in a game! Level 4 Compare and contrast sub-surface and surface events related to the creation of rock types. Level 3 Clearly explain how all three types of rock are formed and identify the patterns within the rock cycle and relate them to surface events (weathering and erosion) and sub-surface events (plate tectonics and mountain building) Level 2 State the three categories of rocks and the basics of how they form. Level 1 With help, I can name the three types of rock.

Intro to Rock Cycle - Brainpop  Complete the questions on the front of your handout. Some are out of order. grains

 Check your Work! grains Lava cools metamorphic heat pressure pressed layers Rock cycle Let’s Check

How this game works:  You will write down your current station in the first box.  Roll the. and make one tally mark  Look at the list to see what your rolled number means  Write down what it says you are doing in the PROCESS space.  IF it says “stay”, just make another tally mark and roll again.  IF it says, “GO to _____, move to that station and write down the station name.
