Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed their break and are ready to jump back into the school year for a new semester! Remembering to keep your mind open to new ideas and opportunities often proves to open new doors in life. Keep this in mind as you move into the new semester as it could help bring forth new opportunities for you and your chapter. A great place to learn about some new ideas will be at our National Convention that’s coming up April 5-7, 2012!

 Northwest Missouri State University- Recently, NMSU have initiated 19 members, had a corn pick-up fundraiser, and new officers were elected!  Missouri State University- MSU completed their wreath making fundraiser, sold DTA t- shirts, and planned a movie night.  University of Central Missouri- UCM initiated 4 new members, have been actively planning for our convention, and planned to sponsor a refreshment booth at and Earth Day event in April.

 College of the Ozarks- This chapter planned a day to work for adopt-a-highway and discussed hosting a guest speaker soon.  Arkansas State University- ASU made and sold their own DTA sausage as a fundraiser for convention, finalized plans to help at a neutering clinic and also to help host a job fair in their Ag building, as well as making plans to host an Ag quiz bowl on campus!  Sam Houston University- SHSU hosted a guest speaker from Cargill, discussed Relay for Life, and planned to work a booth at their school’s rodeo.

Remember to mark your calendars for the 2012 National DTA Convention April 5-7 at Central Missouri State University! We will be touring Bayer Facilities, the High Tunnel, and a farm where research is being conducted on aquatic and avian life. Ag Olympics, an Ag quiz bowl, and a social are being planned for our benefit as well! We hope to see you there!
