TECHFEST-2010 Events from E&C

City Electronica  Based on electronics, finding the solutions to the problems of a city.  Simple circuits are the solutions  Online registration and online prelims for the teams from other colleges.  Venue can be EC labs  Rules  Various rounds concerning the basics of electronics (AEC, DEC, LIC, microcontroller 8051)  Prelims: written(1 hr), Finals: working (4 hrs)

Design and implement  Venue: Seminar Hall; Duration:4 hrs  Rules  A question will be uploaded online as soon as the website is up.  The participants have to send the abstract within a specified date. The best designs will be selected for the finals.  The participants will have more than a month to rig that circuits and get the working circuits here for the fest.  The judging criteria will be based on working of the circuits and the presentation.

Robix  Venue: Seminar hall or an open place Duration:1 Day  Rules  based on a given problem statement by the event organizers, the participants have to build a robot.  The time taken and the accuracy will be judging criterion.

Solarage  Idea: Building solar power driven boat.  The boat has to move a minimum distance and the time taken by the boat to move will be the judging criterion.  Venue: An arena has to be created in open place  Duration: Half day

Paper presentation  This is an event which brings out one’s technical knowledge into limelight.  The participants must choose one of the topics mentioned by the organizers  The abstract has to be sent prior to the date mentioned.

Inside toolbox!  Event based on MatLab+Simulink  The participants have to solve the problem statement given.  The event will have multiple rounds  The team with the most efficient code will be the winner.  Venue: Computer lab  Duration: 1 day(prelims+finals)

More events  Hack the diode(online)  The winners get wildcard entries to City electronica  Basic Electronics quiz (on spot)

Budget for the events(without prize money)  City Electronica- Rs.2500  Design and implement- Rs.1000  Robix- Rs.3000  Solarage- Rs.3000  Paper presentation- Rs.1000  Inside toolbox!- Rs.1000  Misc.(including other events)- Rs.2000

Robotics Workshop  Expert team will conduct the workshop.  Microcontroller programming for Line follower, multi-line follower.  2 day workshop.  Robotic kits will be provided to the participants.  3 in a team. Rs.4500 per team.  Venue: Computer lab(50 comp) for 2 days
