4 About Ham Radio T1A01 One Purpose of the Amateur Radio Service is advancing skills in the technical and communication phases of the radio art. There is no minimum age requirement for holding an FCC Amateur Radio License.

About Ham Radio T1A12 A permissible use of the Amateur Radio service is allowing a person to conduct radio experiments and to communicate with other licensed hams around the world. T1A05 A purpose of the Amateur Radio Service rules and regulations as defined by the FCC is enhancing international goodwill. T1C13 The license classes currently available from the FCC are Technician, General, and Amateur Extra.

6 About Ham Radio T1A2 The agency that regulates and enforces the rules for the Amateur Radio Service in the United States is the FCC. T1C10 You may operate to transmit after you pass the examination elements required for your first amateur radio license as soon as your name and call sign appear in the FCC’s ULS database.

7 About Ham Radio T1C8 The normal term for an FCC- issued primary station/operator license grant is ten years. T1C9 The grace period following the expiration of an amateur license within which the license may be renewed is two years.

8 About Ham Radio T1C11 If your license has expired and is still within the allowable grace period, you may not continue to operate to transmit until the ULS database shows that the license has been renewed. T1A10 The FCC Part 97 definition of an amateur station is a station in an Amateur Radio Service consisting of the apparatus necessary for carrying on radio communications.
