Somewhere Only We Know By : Molly Cooke

Lyrics I walked across an empty land I knew the pathway like the back of my hand I felt the earth beneath my feet Sat by the river and it made me complete Poetic Devices Simile: Simile is used to show just how familiar he was/is with the land he was at and to imply he's been there a lot of times before that and is comfortable there. End Rhyme: End Rhyme is used here to help the song flow better and have a good rhythm.

Lyrics Oh simple thing where have you gone? I'm getting old and I need something to rely on So tell me when your gonna let me in I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin Poetic Devices End Rhyme: End Rhyme is used again to help the song flow better and keep a good rhythm going. Head Rhyme: Head Rhyme, used at the begging of 2 lines, is used to add character to the song and add more rhythm.

Lyrics I came across a fallen tree I felt the braches looking at me Is this the place we used to love? Is this the place we've been dreaming of? Poetic Devices Personification: Personification is used to show how the singer felt awkward being at the place he used to go without his lost companion to the point where the place felt different being without her there.

Lyrics Oh simple thing where have you gone? I’m getting old and I need something to rely on So tell me when your gonna let me in I'm getting old and I need somewhere to begin Poetic Devices Symbolism: Symbolism is used when the singer refers to his old comfortable romance and love as a “simple thing” and makes it clear that he misses it and wishes for it to come back.

Lyrics And if you have a minute why don’t we go Talk about it somewhere only we know This could be the end of everything So why don’t we go Somewhere only we know? Poetic Devices Repetition: Repetition is used by repeating the phrase “somewhere only we know” to highlight the title and to reveal the place/land that he is at is a private place to him and his los companion that they only knew about. Alliteration: Alliteration is used to emphasize that the singer feels that this time in his life right now alone feels like it could be the end of his lost relationship and happiness
